Built-In Shelving and Cabinetry
Bookcases, media walls, bar shelving and mudroom or laundry cabinets, built to fit the wall they sit in, not the nearest stock size.

Most carpenters install, and then you find a painter. That gap is where custom work often looks unfinished: nail holes still showing, open seams at the wall, a raw edge nobody was responsible for. At Paint Plus the same crew builds it and paints it. When we leave, the built-in, the trim or the beam is filled, caulked, primed and painted, and looks like it was always part of the house.
Walls in real houses are rarely straight or square, and floors are rarely level. Custom carpentry is mostly about dealing with that gracefully: scribing a bookcase to a wavy wall, shimming a cabinet so the doors line up, laying out a wall of panel molding so the boxes are equal even though the wall is not. It is slow, careful work, and it is what makes the difference between custom and store-bought.
A few recent examples give a sense of the range:
Because we paint and remodel as well, carpentry often happens alongside other work: new trim during an interior painting job, rotted sills replaced before exterior painting, a hutch or island as part of a kitchen remodel, or a bar in a finished basement. One crew, one schedule, one quote.

Panel details for dining rooms, hallways and stairwells, laid out so the boxes are even from one end of the wall to the other.
New or upgraded trim throughout, with tight miters and seams that are caulked, filled and painted so they disappear.
Decorative wood beams and ceiling treatments, including on high, vaulted ceilings where getting it straight takes real setup.
Pass-throughs, new interior windows, closed-off doorways and new walls, framed, drywalled and trimmed out.
New decks and railings, and rotted exterior trim, sills and corner boards replaced before the house gets painted.

How it works
We see the space, talk through what you have in mind and take measurements.
Sizes, materials and finish agreed up front, with a written price for the whole piece.
Built-ins and trim are cut, fitted and scribed to your walls, which are rarely perfectly straight.
Nail holes filled, seams caulked and edges sanded, so the joints disappear under the paint.
The same crew primes and paints the woodwork, so it is finished, not just installed.

FAQ
Both. Some projects use ready-made cabinets set and trimmed in to look built-in; others are built from scratch to fit an odd space. We will suggest the right approach for your budget and your wall.
Yes, and it is one of the main reasons people hire us for carpentry. The same crew that builds it fills, caulks, primes and paints it, so you are not waiting on a separate painter and the finish is part of the job from the start.
Usually, yes. Many common profiles are still available, and where they are not, we can build up a close match from stock pieces. We will show you what is possible before we start.
A single built-in or one room of wainscoting often takes a few days, including painting. A whole-house trim upgrade takes longer. Your written quote includes the schedule.
Yes. Stairwells and hallways are some of the most rewarding places for panel molding, and we lay the boxes out to follow the stairs evenly. We have done exactly this, along with a custom beam on a 20-foot ceiling, in a single project.
Yes. We build decks and railings, and repair or replace rotted exterior trim before a house is painted.
