Interior Painting Done Right the First Time

A fresh coat of paint is the fastest way to change how a room feels, but only when the prep and the finish are done properly. Paint Plus is an owner-run team of interior painters working in homes across Morris and Somerset County, from a single bedroom to a whole house.

Owner John Reyes started the company in 2013 and still meets every customer, walks the rooms and writes up the scope himself. The crew that shows up is the crew that finishes the job.

Prep Is Most of the Job

Paint only looks as good as the surface under it. Before any color goes on, we:

  • Move and cover furniture, and protect the floors.
  • Seal off rooms with plastic where there is sanding or spraying, so dust stays put.
  • Patch and sand nail holes, cracks, dents and old anchor holes until they disappear under the paint.
  • Caulk open seams in trim and where trim meets the wall, for clean, continuous lines.
  • Prime repairs, stains and bare surfaces, and anywhere we are making a big color change.

This is also why we clean up and re-cover every day. You can keep living in the house while we work.

Choosing the Right Finish

The sheen matters as much as the color. It decides how a room looks in daylight and how easily the walls wipe clean.

  • Flat on ceilings, to hide imperfections and glare.
  • Matte or eggshell on walls in living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms.
  • Satin in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and kids’ rooms, where walls get touched and washed.
  • Semi-gloss on trim, doors and baseboards, for a hard, durable finish.

Not sure about a color? John will walk you through options in your own light and give you his honest recommendation. One recent customer took his recommendation for their kitchen cabinets and called it the perfect choice.

Painting a Home You Live In

Most interior jobs are done room by room while you are at home. Tell us which rooms you need back first, whether you work from home, and when the kids and pets are around, and we will plan the order around you. At the end of each day the rooms are tidied, tools are put away and walkways are clear.

More Than Paint

Because we also do custom carpentry and remodeling, a damaged baseboard, a sticking door or a wall that needs new drywall does not hold the job up. We fix it and keep painting. For kitchens, see our dedicated cabinet painting service.

Interior Painting Near You

We paint homes in Morristown, Chatham, Mendham, Short Hills, Randolph, Denville, Basking Ridge, Bernardsville and nearby towns across Morris and Somerset County. Call us or request a free estimate to get started.

Everything Inside, Painted Properly

  • Walls and Ceilings

Living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and basements, with ceilings cut in cleanly so the line between wall and ceiling stays sharp.

  • Trim, Doors and Baseboards

A harder-wearing satin or semi-gloss on the surfaces hands and vacuums hit every day, so they wipe clean and stay crisp.

  • High Ceilings and Stairwells

Vaulted great rooms, two-story foyers and stairwells, painted from scaffolding rather than a stretched ladder.

  • Drywall and Surface Repair

Nail holes, cracks, dents and old anchors patched, sanded and primed before any finish coat goes on.

  • Color Consultation

Help choosing colors and sheens that work with your light, floors and furniture, with honest advice rather than a sales pitch.

  • Full Home Protection

Floors covered, furniture moved and wrapped, and rooms sealed in plastic where we sand or spray. Re-covered every day.

What Homeowners Say About Our Interior Painting

Google Reviews

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 142 customers on Google

5 out of 5 stars

“We had Paint + recently do a big job at our house. They painted multiple rooms, added wallpaper, installed a custom wood beam on a 20 ceiling and added picture frame molding throughout a stairwell and hallway. We are beyond happy with how everything came out! I got multiple estimates prior to hiring them, and they were very competitive on pricing. John took time to outline the scope of the project and explain exactly what the job entailed every step of the way. We had multiple children and dogs at our house while they did the work. The entire crew was extremely friendly and made my entire family comfortable while they were there for multiple days. I will 100% be using them again!”

Common Questions About This Service

Just take down small items, valuables and anything on the walls you want kept safe. Our crew moves and covers the furniture, protects the floors and cleans up at the end of each day.

Yes. Most interior jobs are done room by room, so you keep the rest of the house. Tell us which rooms you need first and we will plan the order around you.

A straightforward room is usually a day, and a whole house is normally several days to a couple of weeks. Repairs, heavy trim work and dark-to-light color changes add time, and your written quote gives the timeline.

Yes. Walls, ceilings, trim, baseboards, doors and closets can all be included. Trim and doors get a harder-wearing finish than walls, which is what keeps them looking clean.

As a rule: flat on ceilings, matte or eggshell on walls in living areas and bedrooms, satin in kitchens, bathrooms and busy hallways, and semi-gloss on trim and doors. We go over it room by room at the estimate.

Yes. We can walk you through options in your own light, suggest colors that work with your floors and cabinets, and help you settle on a finish for each room.

Yes. We bring scaffolding for vaulted ceilings, stairwells and two-story rooms, so the work is done safely and the cut lines stay straight at full height.

By the rooms and surfaces involved, how much repair and prep they need, and the number of coats. You get a written quote with the scope and price before anything is booked.
